Accepted/Completed Two quick Minigames issues

Hey, just two quick questions/issues from the Minigames server.

1. Props don't do damage. What I mean by this is that there's a few maps with boxes or balls that you're supposed to knife, and hit opponents with. Everyone has 1hp, so if you get hit by an object it pretty much means death. But either due to past CSGO updates or due to some setting on the server, props no longer deal damage to players.

2. Is there a reason that there's a speed cap for bhopping around spawn? Sometimes it's fun to zoom around, and there are also a few maps which rely on you getting boosted in the air, and then keeping your speed when you land on the ground. The speed cap makes it so this doesn't work. On the flip side, there are a few other types of minigames where no speed cap could provide an advantage, but since auto-bhop is enabled for everyone it's not actually that important.

If the reason there is a speed cap is so that people can not start with insane speed at the beginning of the actual game, that doesn't really matter - for the majority of maps you get set to 0 speed upon teleportation, or you also could have kept your speed from the original lower speed cap anyways, so it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

So basically, would just be a bit more fun to have no speed cap, or at least a slightly higher one. And if prop damage is due to a CSGO update, that's fine, but if there's some other server setting that disables it, I was just curious as to why it's disabled.

Physics in CS:GO is a continually changing thing, and that's definitely changed over the years, so it's likely just been broken. I'll have to do some testing on the matter.

Ideally there will be no global auto bhop, and only enabled for high speed bhop sections, it was added in as a bit of a stop-gap measure for impossible to complete sections in a few maps. People who know how to bhop and are skilled at airstrafing will absolutely destroy normal players with no speed cap, so that's been added to make it fun for everyone.

Understandable reasoning for both things, thanks. I haven’t done too much research to figure out if props are broken on all servers, but I did do a few google searches and didn’t see the problem reported. If it can’t be fixed, not a huge issue since it’s only a few games where it happens.

For auto bhop, I do think a lot of people enjoy going fast around spawn during downtime as it gives them something to do while someone chooses a game, so I wouldn’t recommend removing it entirely. If there’s some way to disable the speed cap during certain times and enable it in others that would be ideal, but probably a lot more complicated than what it would be worth. Don’t stress over it too much if it can’t be done, but at the very least I would recommend leaving the smaller speed cap in.

is it possible to include a list of maps and game modes on when this happens so we could find all the info a bit easier I'm guessing it would have to be things like decoy dodgeball game modes and the such? it's been ages since I have played minigames but if my memory serves me right there is a few game modes that have objectives that are not to hit the enemy but could be confused examples being things like soccer and volleyball one of which you could take damage from if said ball hit a certain speed but due to velocities in the volleyball mode the ball it's self would never do damage but again this was years ago since the last time I played minigames and as sneaks said years with an untouched game mode and csgo always changing stuff lot's of game modes break if there is no one to adjust things as things change.

all above information is not needed that much but is a bunch of rambling with some maybe helpful info that could be gathered.

TL:DR it would help greatly if you could give a list of each broken mode and map where it happens.

With the event coming up, this week I'll be going through the maps and testing/tweaking.

As it stands global autobhop will be disabled, and only re-enabled for times where it is required (bhop minigames).

Decoy dodgeball works fine, it's just with props you're supposed to hit that don't deal damage. Like you mentioned, there's a few maps with soccer balls you're supposed to knife, hit people with, and if it hits them they normally would die.

mg_yolo_multigames_v2 has two examples: one example on the 'Elevator' stage, in the 3rd or 4th part of the stage. The room fills with bouncing balls, but because props do not deal damage, it's basically dead time - no one can die or take damage. The stage does only last like 15 seconds, so it's not that long at least. The second example is in the 'Blocks' stage, where you're supposed to your knife blocks and they get knocked around to kill players. There are only a handful of maps with prop damage games, so if it can't be fixed, it's not that big of a deal.

It is worth noting that maps like mg_piratewars_csgo_v7, where you fire cannonballs at enemies, can still kill/damage players. I'm not sure if the cannonball maybe isn't classified as a prop or something or what, but there is a difference. Maps with a 'jumprope' game also work fine.

As a heads up, mg_minecraft_multigames_v4 has a few minigames ("Boss Battle", and "Defends")
where teams are supposed to work together versus something like a boss fight, but since players get spawned in open areas with guns it usually just ends in people killing each other in the first 3 seconds of the round. I don't know if that's something you can fix, since it seems like more of a problem with the map rather than the server, but figured I'd let you know just in case. Outside of this and the prop damage bug listed above, I don't think we've ever had any other serious issues with bugs on the maps we've played.

just score in the goal and teleport and kill everyone with the awps if it works as I remembered.

but those are objective based iirc so you could always do the above then kill people if they don't all die off that is.

Ah, sorry if that was confusing wording - when I meant soccer/football I didn't mean the ones with the actual goals, there's just a bunch of random balls/boxes going around you're supposed to knife and knock into people.

Just a follow-up, props not causing damage has been fixed as of the update on the 16th, and I have gone ahead and disabled global auto-bhop on maps that do not require it. Last night I went through the first batch of maps (alphabetically up through hellz_multigames) and have enabled it where necessary. I'll be finishing the rest tonight!

Should be all fixed up as of today's update, feel free to make another topic if you find additional issues.
