So as we all know and understand, rule 1 of this server includes not baiting racism or saying any racial slurs. However, I believe this rule should be changed for the following reasons: 1. For a CS:GO server, saying racial slurs is a common occurrence. However, racial slurs are not the main source of the rampant toxicity on CS:GO. Sure, they can be tied with toxicity at times, but servers which allow racial slurs are not really the more toxic servers. It's servers which ban users for saying racial slurs which tend to attract more toxic players because the rules of the server are thought of as a joke. It just makes the act more enticing. 2. Severely restrictive rules aren't going to change anybody's behavior. We can't have the mentality that harder and stricter rules will change anything. When racial slurs are allowed, people tend to have a more mature and responsible attitude, unless they purposely want to ruin peoples' experiences anyway. What should be concerning is when people actively ruin others experiences, regardless if racial slurs are used. Racial slurs by themselves do not carry any weight unless someone gets offended by them and feels attacked, and again, aren't a main source of toxicity. What I've noticed is that not many people feel obviously offended when racial slurs are said - it's more of the people who are heavily concerned with rules who get offended because someone broke a rule. 3. Anything that alludes to race period is taken far too seriously at times. Even if the rule does not change, this needs to be addressed so that we don't have unnecessary anxiety about people who allude to, on one hand a controversial topic, but on the other hand a topic that CS:GO players don't particularly take seriously, and that's the point. We're not meant to take anything too seriously in a video game. 4. Referring to point 2, I think that the main concern for admins should be harassment between players. When people are joking around with racial slurs, nobody is getting hurt unless somebody outside of the conversation takes offense to the word. In that situation, the onus would be on the person outside of the conversation to disregard it, leave the server, or disable voice. In a way, this server should be promoting responsibility instead of strict rules. In conclusion, I don't want to stir up unnecessary drama, but I just want to have a civil discussion.
