Surf server chat processing

Long story short, the surf servers' chat is processed differently than any other server we run. Because of this, we are limited by available custom tags, chat colors, filtering, etc. That being said, I've been tossing around the idea of disabling the surf timer chat processing entirely. Here's what we're looking at if we disable the chat processing:

Pros:

• Use of unlimited amount of custom tags via the Store (some public some VIP only)
• Use of custom chat colors via the Store (VIP only)
• Allows actual filtering of chat (for spamming, racism, etc)
• ??? I'm missing things here for sure
• Name change messages are ignored with surf timer chat processing, these would show in chat if disabled
• Players no longer can put fake colors in chat

Cons:

• Ranks don't show in chat
• ??? I'm missing something possibly

Note that ranks will still show on the scoreboard.

So what do you guys think, should I disable surf timer chat processing so we can have more chat features?

Custom tags would be handled separately from the ranking system. Instead of having a limited assigned number of custom tags, I could make as many as I wanted, and any donor could choose from a whole lot of tags.

That being said, only your tag would show up in chat, your surf rank would no longer show in chat.

Oh than i am totally in favor of that. Keep my tag and their will be some filtering for racism and spam. Win Win all around

If I dont buy a title will it show my rank in chat still or just my name and nothing else?

No ranks would show in chat whatsoever. If you don't get a custom title from the store, it will only show your name.

Ranks won't be going anywhere, they just won't show in chat!
