  • Mapchooser Updates:

Retakes
  • Disabled map runoff votes
  • Reversed the points system change in this thread, as the data has proven this has made the system more imbalanced. This will take some time to propagate and bring player ratings to a "normal" level.
  • Entirely revamped point/rating/score decay system for inactive players, see the bottom of this post for a full breakdown of the changes
1v1 Arenas
  • Revamped point/rating/score decay system for inactive players, see the bottom of this post for a full breakdown of the changes
Bhop
  • Fixed paint not being visible to all players on Top 50/VIP server
  • If no map votes are received, the map is extended - Top 50/VIP only

Rank/point/score Decay system changes:

The ideology behind this change is that we totally understand players have lives. You shouldn't have to join every waking day of your life just to maintain your position - with school, jobs, and a life I totally understand that can't happen 100% of the time. However, this does not mean you should be able to squat on the same position. If you maintain the skills that you have, you should be able to regain the rating. This just provides a reasonably longer grace period before your points start disappearing.

Data preservation is definitely something we try to keep in mind here, so in pursuant to that ideal rank decay has changed significantly:

Arenas:
Before: After 24hrs of inactivity, points started to decay back to the new player starting points (1500). Players with a rating of below the new player starting point never re-gained points (reverse decay).
Now: After an unspecified number of days, points start to decay at a more aggressive rate. Players below the default starting point now have a slow reverse decay in points (1/2 the speed of standard point decay). After 30 days of inactivity, your profile rating will be reset back to the new player starting points.

Retakes:
Before:
After 30 days of inactivity, entire profiles were wiped. This sucks, especially considering it appears that "30" days was a bit inconsistent with the system that was being used (thanks for the bug reports).
Now: After an unspecified number of days, points start to decay at an aggressive rate, just like arenas. Players below the default starting point now have a slow reverse decay in points (1/2 the speed of standard point decay). After 30 days of inactivity, your profile rating will be reset back to the new player starting points.

This should help significantly keep things balanced and fair, especially in relation to an ELO-based ranking system.

Thanks to @mbhound and @Ruto for the big help on making this a reality! If you're interested in what went into it:

Great option. I've always done the alphabetical list, but it's nice to have a tiers option, similarly to the oldschool UMC.

The "fix bots/replays" is something I've often had to do in other servers with permissions. Is this limited to the administration team?
Spectator HUD hide - various other updated Surf Timer's have this in a "modules" section, so it's nice to have for recording videos.

Thanks for the update.

This is one of the cool features I missed from UMC - unfortunately the plugin is so antiquated and poorly written, once you reach over a couple hundred maps in a server, it causes huge lag spikes, making it unusable for any sizable server.

For now - it's being discussed if the permission will be extended to Moderators, as there is a wider presence.

This has always been a choice in the !options menu, however unfortunately spectators were never affected by the change - pretty easy fix to make.
