2019 In Review

I love doing this every year to show how much we've grown as a community, but also as a report card to ensure that we are doing things right! 2019 was undoubtedly our best year on record, and I would like to share the statistics of this year with you!

Skill Surf:
  • In 2019, we had 182,721 unique players from 155 different countries. This is a growth increase of 22% since the previous year!
  • We had 45.5 years of play time on surf this year. Absolutely unprecedented number.
  • The player with the most time in 2019 had a whopping 1,471 hours!
  • We currently have 742 maps in rotation throughout all of our servers, this is up 70 since last year when I made the year in review post.
  • In 2019, we had a ton of new personal bests! This includes 91,925 bonus completions, 303,426 map completions, and 2,612,395 stage completions.
  • The quickest map time in 2019 was completed by a-ha!, on his own...

Happy Holidays all! Here is a quick roundup of updates that have happened over the past few weeks through today:
  • All timer servers now return to the last map that was on after a update/crash/restart rather than a static default map.
  • Added surf_epiphany (T5 Staged)
  • Added average map time to web surf stats page
  • Updated the following KZ maps to their new global versions:

  • Added missing KZ map images for discord record announcer (thanks Ocelot!)

  • Temporarily disabled the bonus ELO gained on Retakes from killing a higher ranked player while a more mild algorithm is procured
Expect some more content related updates early January, I've had quite a bit on the burner the past couple months that will be coming to fruition soon.

  • We have re-introduced surf_forgotten_fix since it was removed in 2017 with some additional logging to help track down the old (possible) crash issue. A few illegal skips have been patched and cheated times removed.
  • Fixed a rare crash upon map change on surf_classics2
  • Fixed a crash on surf_fornax
  • Added !startpos for donors on Surf servers (only on map starts for the meantime, stages and bonuses coming later)
  • A couple small fixes/optimizations to the surf timer
  • Fixed error spam on bhop_jib_jib_csgo
  • Retakes: Added a couple forward CT spawns to B site of de_mirage to get a better balance of CT/T wins/losses, and to better emulate an actual site retake in a game
  • Applied a performance fix to Surf & Bhop servers (KZ servers already had it)

Hey guys, as many of you already know on November 2nd I am hosting a 24hr live charity stream, over on my Twitch channel to raise money for children's hospitals around the continent.
